Bruce B. Andrews of Dover died Monday June 1, 2009 in his home after a 17 year battle with prostate cancer. He was 69.
He was born March 22, 1940 in Corvallis, Oregon to the late Delbert Andrews and Lorene Grove Andrews.
He was an Aviation Electricians Mate in the Navy. After starting his family he worked for Hyster Company in Portland, OR, in quality control then worked as a Human Resource Manager. Mr. Andrews moved to Peoria, Ill, then to Danville, Ill with Hyster Co. He then moved back to Peoria, where he was the Personnel Manager for the City of Peoria. In 1992 they moved to Dover where he worked for the City of Dover as the Human Resources Manager. He enjoyed reading and especially sailing.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Broshia Andrews of Dover; daughter, Kris Andrews Meier of Washington, Ill; his son, Scott B. Andrews of Lafayette, IN; his sister, Janet Jones of Anthem, AZ; three grandchildren, Noah B. Andrews, Grechen Andrews and Grant Meier.
Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union Street, Smyrna. Friends may call from 5-8 Friday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to St. Peters Episcopal Church, 22 Union Street, Smyrna, DE, 19977 or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
