Life Legacy

Myrtle Victoria Wright of Dover died Friday August 26, 2011 at home after a 3 month fight with cancer. She was 78.

Mrs. Wright was born July 18, 1933 in Westmoreland, Jamaica to David and Florence MacDonald, the fifth of six children. Mrs. Wright moved to the U.S. with her husband in 1968, living in Chestertown where their son, Clarke, was born. In 1972, they moved to Dover, where they remained until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Ethel, Eardley, Beryl, Lionel, and Dudley.

She had worked for 32 years in central supply at Kent General Hospital. Mrs. Wright enjoyed working out and socializing at the Modern Maturity Center, and loved to go for long walks. She enjoyed raising money for her favorite charity, the American Heart Association, and was just an overall giving person to friends, family, and charitable organizations. She was an active and enthusiastic member of Christ Episcopal Church in Dover for over 40 years, singing on the choir and doing what she could to make the church enjoyable for everyone. She was a big Jeff Gordon fan, and also loved to watch the triple crown horse races. She absolutely loved watching Wheel of Fortune with her grandson and traveling to Jamaica to see family and friends.
.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband of 45 years, Charles Wright of Dover; son, Clarke Wright and his wife Catherine of Yankton, South Dakota, and grandchild, Everton C. Wright.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church, 501 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8PM at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
