Agnes Pennella of Dover Delaware passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.
Agnes was born December 29 1934 in New York City to the late Emile Dowden and Letitia Searls Dowden.
She was a proud alumnus of the prestigious Hunter College in NY and earned a degree in economics.
Agnes was so proud to become the wife of Colonel Anthony John Pennella. Agnes was honored to be part of the military community. She traveled the world and was an active volunteer for several military base activities.
She was appointed as a Justice of the Peace Magistrate where she served on the bench for 26 years retiring in 2010 as a senior Judge for the State of Delaware. Agnes was passionate about her work with the people of court 7 and members of the law enforcement community in Dover.
Agnes loved spending time with her family and was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony John Pennella in 1977 and a brother, Lewis Dowden.
She is survived by two sons, Anthony F Pennella of Bear, DE, Miles L Pennella of Plano, Texas; daughter, Laura Pennella Greene of Hockessin, DE; brother, Rex Dowden of Baldwin, NY; sister, Valerie Dowden Asti of Newark, DE, Nephews and niece Greg Dowden, Scott Dowden, Holly Dowden Everson, Stacy Dowden Hare, Rosemary Pennella and two grandchildren; Daniel and Elizabeth Greene.
Funeral services will be held 1pm Saturday March 19, 2011 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call Friday evening from 7-9 and Saturday 12-1pm. Interment will be in the Long Island National Cemetery, NY.
