Biography
Diana Ackah of Dover died suddenly at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital Saturday August 1, 2009. She was 27.
Diana was born April 1, 1982 in Takoradi, Ghana to Dr. Yaw Ackah & Mrs. Georgina Ackah.
She graduated from Dover High School in 2001. Diana graduated from Delaware State University. Dover, DE. BSc Biology (Honors) in 2005. From 2005-2007 she was at the National Institute of Health (NIH) on a Health Research Fellowship. After the NIH she continued her education at Drexel University. She would be receiving a Masters (MSc) degree from the Physician’s Assistant program on August 21, 2009.
Drexel University will be organizing a special memorial service for her on August 18, at which she will be awarded her degree posthumously.
Diana is survived by her parents Dr. Yaw Ackah & Mrs. Georgina Ackah of Dover, DE; her grandparent, Nana Abena Pomaah of (Ghana); her brothers: Mr. Ernest Ackah of Smyrna, DE; Dr. Eric Ackah of Boston, MA; Mr. Ellis Ackah of Reston,VA; Mr. Thomas Ackah of Germantown, MD; Mr. Samuel Ackah Jr. of Newark, DE; Mr. Enoch Ackah of Dover, DE; her sisters: Ms. Perpetual Sampson of Newark, DE and Ms. Vida Oduro of Dover, DE.
Funeral services will be held 10-12p.m. Saturday, August 22nd, 2009 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call Friday evening from 7-9p.m. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. The traditional Ghanaian funeral will be held 2-9 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Great Hall of the St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 425 N. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE.
